Along the lines of the bug with the converted DNGs being viewed as raw, recently when changing the metadata in 1.31, LR does not see the changes in the filter browser.

For example, editing the country of all my pictures read USA still yeilds everything as No country in the browser. Is there a way to get lightroom to update without exporting and importing every time I make a change?

thanks in advance

taidan,

It's not clear in your post whether you were changing the metadata with LR itself or some other application.

If you're making the metadata change in LR, it certainly should be seen in the LR metadata browser. I don't believe that it will be written back to your DNG files tho', unless you have Autowrite XMP's set to on, or unless you force a metadata write with ctrl/cmd-S or on the menu: Metadata | Save Metadata.

If you're changing the metadata in the DNGs with some other application, LR won't be aware of it, unless you import the changes by

menu: Metadata | Read Metadata

If I've missed the point completely, can you elaborate on exactly what happened?

It'll help everybody, if you create a signature block, like the other users here, detailing your system set-up, etc. See User CP at upper left.

Reviving this one as I have this problem too. Changes made to metadata are not automatically visible in the metadata browser until Lightroom is closed and re-opened. This is for changes to metadata made within Lightroom. Frustrating.

I've discovered something interesting, and I'm posting the results of a frustratingly long evening here. Just give me a minute to enter my Post.
