Second, tell us a little more about your system and setup.

Third, I'm not entirely sure I understand your questions exactly. I get the part about dealing with files from two photographers, something like two shooters at the same event?

But then I get lost here:

I want to end up with a renamed raw folder and renamed jpgs folder
What is the most effective way to edit the raws. Do I right click on each image and delete?

What exactly are we renaming and why/how? Why are we maybe right-clicking and deleting?

Inquiring minds want to know the details,.

Can you elaborate just a little more on the inputs, and the desired end product?

How do I effectively merge images from two photographers.
I want to end up with a renamed raw folder and renamed jpgs folder
What is the most effective way to edit the raws. Do I right click on each image and delete? I want to make sure that the raw and jpgs are in chronological order and assigned same number.

Here my interpretation: Two photographers have given you images from the same/similar event. You want to split the Raw files and the Jpgs files into their own respective folders.
You also want to maintain the naming convention so each Raw file has a Jpg pairing. You want to delete some Raw files but at the same time make sure you delete the jpg pair.

Despite the fact that it actually sounds like you are going to do more work than necessary, I dont know your overall schema, so I will go with what you want to "end up with"

1. Import all the files.
2. From the Photo menu select Stacking>Auto Stack by Capture Time. Set the slider to around 1 or 2 seconds.
3. From the photo menu select Stacking>Expand all stacks.
4. While viewing the images in grid mode you will see numbers in the upper left of each frame (such as 1of2) Click that number once and press the x key to those images you dont want to keep.
5. When you have viewed all the images and assigned the Reject flag (x key) Select File>Filters>Filter by Flag>Rejected Photos.
6. Select all the images and Photo>Delete Photos. (remove from disk to trash)

Now to rename:
1. File>Filters>Filter by Flag>All
2. Photo> Stack > Unstack
3. View > Sort > Filetype (you should have an even number of files)
4. Select the first Raw file and shift click on the last raw file
5. Library > Rename Photos. Enter you preferred naming convention.
6. Select the first Jpg file and shift click on the last Jpg file
7. Library > Rename Photos. Use the same naming convention.

Now for the individual folders.
1. In the folder panel, use the (+) sign to create 2 new folders and name them/locate them according to your schema.
2. Filter the images by file type- Library > Find. Criteria is Filename ends with Jpg
3. Select all the Jpg images and drag them to the relevant folder.
4. Repeat steps 2 + 3 with the Raw files.
