I am entering a few of my wildlife images into a contest and need to abide by the following submission rules... How can I set LR to export my image, originally shot in Nikon RAW NEF format and currently in DNG format to meet the following...Photographs must not exceed 5'' KB at 72 ppi; Photographs must be saved in RGB mode

If I export my standard image file as a jpg, and constrain to a maximum size of 14'' pixels along it's longest size, with a resolution of 24' PPI and the highest quality setting the images are just over 55'kb, but I have no idea if it is at 72 ppi. How do I meet the ppi & size requirements and maximize the image quality? Do I adjust the dimension? The quality setting? Both? Or would I achieve better results using the Print module to Print to File, restricting to a certain print size and set the ppi to 72?

I played around with the export quality and at a setting of 1'' down to 93 the size is 557 kb, and once I set it at 92 the file size drops to 298 kb. This meets the requirement but I concerned that if the file size is halved so might the perceive IQ...

For the second requirement... would that AdobeRGB or sRGB

I sure feel stupid about asking that on, but both do have RGB in the format name.

Change your 24'ppi to 72ppi and that'll solve that one.

LR2/Mogrify can now export to a specific kb size, or you could just drop your size - drop the longest edge to 12''px at the highest quality and you should be about right.

You'll want sRGB as it sounds like it's web based - you always use sRGB for web use. When they say RGB, they just mean not CMYK or Grayscale.

And never feel stupid about asking questions - it's how everyone learns.

Thanks Victoria... yes, LR@/Mogrify has been a primary tool for me for a while.. I don't see the size setting.. I limited the longest edge to 12''px and a few of the images still exceed the 55' kb. should I reduce the size further or change the quality setting?

Have you updated to the latest LR/Mogrify release? I spotted it in the release notes.

Yes, I have the most recent version.. there is a Resize dialog in the LR2/Mogrify, that allows you to resize to a number of Pixels, KPixels or MPixels... Is that it?

No. Look for JPEG compression option. Set limit to 5''K.
