Matching a photo paper to a color printer profile

I have a Canon MP97' All in one. When I select "Other" for the color management, the following color printer profiles are displayed:

Check Canon's site and make sure you have all of the drivers you need. Often there is a photo driver that will have profiles for Canon paper. If the paper is from a third party then check their site to see if they have a profile for your printer.

Failing that try some test prints on the paper you have using the settings available and see which combination yields the best result.

I have a Canon MP97' All-in-one and the color printer profiles supplied are
"Canon MP97' series" followed by: Fine Art Photo Rag 2, GL2, GL3, Other Fine Art Paper 2, PR1, PR2, Pr3, SP2, SP3. Naively, I assumed I would be able to select appropriate photo papers from Canon's range of photo papers.
These are the Canon papers I have found: PR1'1, PP1'1, PP2'1, GP5'1, SG1'1, SG2'1, MP1'1, HR1'1. I found the following from a Canon site:
MP= Matte Photo Paper example MP1'1, SP = Photo Paper Plus Glossy example PP1'1, PR Photo Paper Pro Example PR1'1, SG = Semi Gloss examples SG1'1 or SG2'1. I don't think there is enough data here to do what I want. I'm hoping one of you has already sorted this problem out. If so I would be grateful for your conclusions.

R1 = Photo Paper Pro (print quality level 1)
PR2 = Photo Paper Pro (quality level 2)
SP1 = Photo Paper Plus Glossy (quality level 1)
MP1 = Matte Photo Paper (quality level 1)
MP2 = Matte Photo Paper (quality level 2)

SG2 = Photo Paper Semi Gloss (quality level 2)
GL2 = Photo Paper \Glossy (quality level 2)

I have the same printer.

Have you found the acctual .icc/.icm files? I am using GIMP, and want to assign the printer profile in color management in the program, and can't find the files on my harddrive. I have also contacted Canon, and they can't provide me with them.

It would be great if you know where to find them!

I have solved my own problem. When the Canon MP97' is installed, using Windows XP, you can find the profiles under "C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\drivers\color". The profiles starting "CNB91" is the profiles for the MP97'.

To find out to what type of paper, and printing quality the profiles represent, open the files in Wordpad and look for something like "Canon MP97' series PR2". The "PR2"-part is the paper and quality.
