Mask data not transferring in catalog from editor

Hello. I have a lightroom editor and they send me their catalog for me to review and export my final images. When I get their catalog from them and open it the mask data looks like this in the mask panel. I have to hit "update all" on each mask.

See below: The error message says "some Ai masks need to be updated."

What could be causing this? They are sending me all the catalog files .(Previews.lrdat, smart previews.lrdata, the lrcat file, and the lrcat-data file

Does your editor send you BOTH the ".lrcat" AND the ".lrcat-data" files? If not, they should.

It could also be that they're doing Healing after Masking, rather than the other way round. Or that they only have the smart previews, so the AI masks want to render with full size data once you have the originals available.

Ty for responding. I know they aren’t doing healing so we can rule that out.

Do they have the originals to work on, or just smart previews?
