Making Smart Collections obey...

Hi all,

I have been trying to create a smart collection using multiple keywords as the criteria.
I have two cats, which are keyworded with "Jasmine Cat " and "Lily Cat" (where both name and animal name make up the keyword). I tried to create the collection with each of the following criteria to pick up pics of Jasmine, Lily or both of them together:

1st try- Any: Keyword contains [ Lily Cat, Jasmine Cat ]

2nd try- Any: Keyword contains [ Lily, Cat, Jasmine ]

3rd try- Any: Keyword contains [ Lily Cat ] +
keyword contains [ Jasmine Cat ]

4th try- I even tried the boolean code (that was a stretch I know) by using
Keyword contains [ Lily Cat + Jasmine Cat ]

Originally I was picking up the flower called Lily, but I did use the Keyword does NOT contain [ _Flower ] (which is my designation for the category of flower), so I was able to eliminate that problem.

I feel like the last couple times I've tried to create a smart collection,
I've been really guessing about how the program will react. The last smart collection I created works, but I'm not sure WHY that particular combination works. It was a similar situation, where I was looking for pics with any number of keyword combinations.

Can someone take the three above combos and interpret what the program will search for? Is there a place where the parameters are spelled out?

What about.....

All
Keywords / Contains / Cat
Any
Keywords / Contains / Jasmine
Keywords / Contains / Lily

Now, how to do it.... After the line which looks for "cat", hold down the Alt/Option key as you click the + to add another condition line. This lets you nest the part of the smart collection which looks for the names.

I think it should work.

Ah, great idea John. I actually just read about that option key trick and it was going to be my next attempt
My only question is why don't they make it easier to create hierachical criteria? That has to be one of the best secrets in LR!
