Making lightroom the default program for jpegs

i want LR to be the default program for jpegs i.e when i click on a jpeg it opens lightroom import screen.

I just can't seem to get LR to show up in the "open with" - "choose" program list. can anyone help please.

Hi ReggieB! Welcome to the forums!
LR is not just an editor. You probably have successfully associated JPEG files with LR. However, LR's first reaction is to import into its database. Only after that happens can you edit the image.

I am sorry iam perhaps not making myself clear. When i click on Jpegs i want them to open in LR. This was happening until i upadted to LR 2.5.

If i click on a jpeg and try and associate it by using the "open with" function i cannot get LR to become one of the chosen programs

Welcome to the forums Reggie!

The problem with your approach is that each time you will double-click the same image, Lightroom will either stop warning that the image is already there or create a duplicate in its database if you allowed it. We think it is a bad idea to do so.

For quick imports, you can also drag one or more images over the Lightroom icon...
