Hi there. I want to make a preset that represents LR's Auto Settings MINUS the vibrance and saturation adjustment. I went and created a preset and checked all the parameters I want (Auto without the v and s adjustments). When I apply it by clicking on it, nothing happens. What am I doing wrong? I suspect that this represents some simple misunderstanding of presents on my part...

I guess that is how Auto was designed to work . I've tried a few combinations and I could not get it to work either. Unless one of the gurus can come up with something you may need to create a preset that zeroes out those two after you apply Auto.

Yep. I set the v and s sliders to zero and added Texture, Clarity Dehaze and left the lens corrections on. When I checked Auto in the upper left hand corner the v and s sliders greyed out. You aren't doing anything wrong I don't think.

Thanks and yes...
I tried unchecking Auto Settings and then added all the parameters I wanted to include but that didn't work.

So is there a simple way of making a preset that does everything Auto Settings does sans vibrance and saturation.

I don’t think you can create a single preset that does it.

But I do understand why you’d want to do something - Auto is often a good starting point but I hate how much it pumps up the colours. So I have a preset that zeroes Vibrance and Saturation which I apply after hitting Auto.

Here is something to try. I am not sure of the result, but it is easy enough to do and test. And it won't hurt to do the experiment.
  1. Create the Preset as you have been and save it.
  2. Open the preset XMP file using the textedit app.
  3. Delete all of the lines that reference Hue, Saturation and Luminance.
    1. e.g
      crs:HueAdjustmentRed="0"
      crs:HueAdjustmentOrange="0"
      crs:HueAdjustmentYellow="0"
      crs:HueAdjustmentGreen="0"
      crs:HueAdjustmentAqua="0"
      crs:HueAdjustmentBlue="0"
      crs:HueAdjustmentPurple="0"
      crs:HueAdjustmentMagenta="0"
      crs:SaturationAdjustmentRed="0"
      crs:SaturationAdjustmentOrange="0"
      crs:SaturationAdjustmentYellow="0"
      crs:SaturationAdjustmentGreen="0"
      crs:SaturationAdjustmentAqua="0"
      crs:SaturationAdjustmentBlue="0"
      crs:SaturationAdjustmentPurple="0"
      crs:SaturationAdjustmentMagenta="0"
      crs:LuminanceAdjustmentRed="0"
      crs:LuminanceAdjustmentOrange="0"
      crs:LuminanceAdjustmentYellow="0"
      crs:LuminanceAdjustmentGreen="0"
      crs:LuminanceAdjustmentAqua="0"
      crs:LuminanceAdjustmentBlue="0"
      crs:LuminanceAdjustmentPurple="0"
      crs:LuminanceAdjustmentMagenta="0"
  4. Save the file.
  5. Now apply it to an image to observe the results.

Does that give you what you are after?

John, how do you do this?

Is there a way of invoking the personalized auto-tone using keyboard shortcut, as one can do with Command-U for the standard auto-tone?
You can do that in MacOS System Settings - Keyboard Shortcuts. Add three spaces in front of the menu name, because that is what plugins do.

Having trouble getting this to work.

I've tried the following with 3 spaces in front of "Plug-in Extras" and in front of "Apply..." as well as in front of each alone:

File->Plug-in Extras->Apply Personalized Auto Tone

Solved it. The trick is NOT to add the path but just to type in Apply Personalized Auto Tone PRECEDED by 3 spaces.
