Hello All,

Is it possible to maintain the center and one of the sides when changing the aspect ratio of a crop in lightroom?

To make my question easier to understand I have created some screen shots below. In image 1 I have cropped a photp to a 16x9 ratio and have centered the image around the hole in the middle car. However, if I needed to change the aspect ratio to 4x6, is it possible to force lightroom to keep the center of the previous crop and only adjusts one of the sides in order to fit the new ratio (image 2). In essence I am hoping for a tool similar to the canvas size tool in photoshop, you could specify what was important, the center/side/corner, and it would adjust the crop while maintaining your request. As it stands now, each time I change the aspect ratio lightroom it enlarges the crop and re-centers it to the center of the image (image 3). This is extremely tedious since I then need start from scratch in order to match my 16x9 version.

I have searched the web but have not found any solutions to this. Is this possible in the current version? If not I think it would be a great feature for future versions. Do other agree?

Thanks very much to anyone who can solve this issue.

mmgando, welcome.

Sorry, I don't think so. I've seen a similar discussion recently, in another group talking about feature requests.
The only 'trick' I'm aware of, is holding Alt, while dragging the crop box, which should hold the crop center in place. Doesn't address your problem, tho'.
