MAC tools integration

I need to make a decision re LR vs AP3. I like LR MUCH more (have downloaded both 3'-day trial pkgs) but am conflicted because AP3 is so well-integrated into the other MAC tools (like I-DVD for example), and things like slideshow capabilities are so much better on MAC vs LR. I am a PS Elements user and want the new product for organization and for basic editing capabilities. If I want to use the other MAC-based appications am I forced into AP3 or is there an easy way to use LR-edited photos into the MAC applications?

It's a good question. Those who like Aperture often point out this integration as a reason for preferring Aperture, but most Mac users, including a lot of Mac loyalists, choose Lightroom and I'm surprised how little they mention such Apple tools. If these Mac users actually wanted to use these other Apple tools, you'd think they would have created automator tasks to output to iWhatever or other ways of smoothing the process, but none of the Lightroom/Mac enthusiasts seem to be doing this.

I agree - I'm using it with InDesign. In iWhatever terms, one could publish to a folder and then use an automator script to use the content in iWhatever.

But what do you think of my point that even the LR-using Mac enthusiasts (even fanboys) don't seem at all concerned with iWhatever integration?

I am much newer at Mac than at Lightroom. When I first saw iPhoto it looked good for integration with Pages, Mail etc and creating different outputs. But after just a couple of images, I was wondering where they really are and if I was creating duplicates somewhere. It made things more confusing rather than simpler to me. So I never came back to it but still feel I miss something...

This may be fine for amateurs but from a DAM point of view, I prefer to keep full control.

I miss it but mainly in emails where I could just use the media browser. I'm hoping that using the publishing utility in LR3 and a script (or something) I will be able to integrate it into the media browser.

I'm also surprised more people don't complain about the lack of integration but the export presets do make it fairly easy I suppose.
