Mac OSX: Lightroom 6.4 won't open after upgrading from 6.0

Last month I had LR6.4 running smoothly with my MacPro3.1 and 10.9.5 but not anymore. I tried twice to upgrade: once from 6.0 to 6.4 in one step; and also from 6.0 to 6.4 in 7 steps. I can get to 6.3 with LR working fine but going all the way to 6.4 simply freezes within a few seconds of opening. I can tether my Nikon 600 using LR5.7 but was hoping to get LR6.4 working since I think it is supposed to support tethering my camera.
I did get some help from the Adobe forum- a fellow sent me the link to download the 7 files to go from LR6.0 to 6.4 in the 7 increments but no luck with LR6.4. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

This looks like a problem that is already being discussed on this forum. In that case, after leaving LR frozen for something like 2-5 minutes, it finally unfreezes and acts normally for the rest of the time it's open. Perhaps that is your problem, too, but you never waited long enough.

You were correct. LR6.4 did indeed work after waiting a few minutes and my Nikon D600 tethers fine after all. Not a big deal to wait a few minutes but maybe next version (LR6.5) will fix this issue
