LRPrev to JPG recovery script not recovering all previews shown

Hi everyone,

I recently had a disk crash and was able to recover most of my fotos from backups, except for a few folders spread over the last 8 months.
I also recovered the catalog including previews folders from another backup which is only one week old.
I use LrC 10.1.1. on Windows 10 rev 20H2 x64 .

When running the recovery script found on Adobe website it seems to work but not fully.

I select all fotos inside a folder in LrC and launch the script, but only some are recovered.
I can view previews in LrC in full size (1:1) by hitting "F", but not all of those I can see in LrC are also recovered by the script.

Any idea why that and how to resolve this would greatly be appreciated!

I do not know this script, but the answer could be simple. What you are looking at in the catalog are not 1:1 previews, but standard-sized previews. A 1:1 preview is only generated when you zoom in to 100% view. So for the images that do not recover there probably is no 1:1 preview.

I checked the settings and I have "preview size = auto", so not 1:1.

This is Adobe's "how to": Script to extract previews of lost or deleted photos
It says: "The script extracts previews for all the images that are selected at the time you run the script. "
so it should not care about preview size.

I found a plugin which does the job, plus - it recovers some metadata and adds them to the restored jpg.
I use plugin version 20201017.61

But don't make the catalog file name and folder structure too complex, otherwise the plugin messes up and does not find the cache folder anymore.
I finally used this structure, which works for me. Just copy the original catalog to another place and rename.
