LrC crashing on open, was fine yesterday, need help troubleshooting

Lightroom Classic 12.2.1

Operating System

1. macOS 13 Ventura

Hi folks, these last two days I decided to dive into my (huge) photo library again. Imported some stuff, created some collections, etc. I closed things yesterday evening without anything notable happening. This morning, I can't open LrC: all I get is the spinning beachball of death (MacOS).

What I've tried:
- force quit and try again
- try opening the library instead of just clicking on the app
- try opening my last backup from last night
- restart computer
- try opening some other library from a few years ago

Any suggestions for how to move forward with this... is there a kind of "safe mode" I could open LrC in, without a library for example?

Idly browsing through the forum, I opened this thread https://www.lightroomqueen.com/community/threads/lrc-cache-causing-crash-metrics-json-but-why.47409/ – tried deleting metrics.json, and Lightroom now opens!
