I am running a registered LR5 and a new subscription of LR CC on the same machine (Macbook) under the same account. Lightroom stores settings in the Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom folder. Both versions use the same folder, but the CC version has some different/new subfolders and only LR5 has my registration info.

The question is can these two Lightroom versions live alongside each other and share the same settings folder? I intend to use this setup until LR CC feels reliable to me, after that I will use CC only.

They should be fine together. I have a similar combination of versions and see no problems.

OK thanks John,
All I can see is CC has a sub folder called Preferences that LR5 doesn't have and LR5 has the registration file that CC doesn't have. Otherwise they appear to be similar, albeit that the CC folder has not been filled yet as I've just installed it.
I have a bunch of Symbolic links that point to DropBox locations where I have my Develop Presets, Export Presets, Print Templates etc. stored. I suppose LR CC will work with that as the apps are 100% ignorant that the Symbolic Links are there anyway.
