LR3 beta backward compatibility

Hi,

If I start now using LR3beta during some months, but at the end don't want to buy the upgrade from LR2 to LR3, can I easily come back to LR2?

For sure I will save the keywords and developments settings in the xmp files, but would I lose my collections, development histories, or anything else?

I believe the answer to your second question is "YES, you will lose collections, development histories, and anything else that cannot be saved in .xmp files".

LR3 Beta is not supposed to be used for real work.

Not so sure that LR3 xmp files are fully readable in LR2 either---I have run into problems with that. Best to make duplicates and keep them entirely separate and not count on any backward compatibility.

DO NOT USE LR3 FOR REAL WORK....

There is no guarantee that even the current LR3 xmp files will work with the Production release of LR3. This is Beta software ! ! ! If you spend hours in LR3 now you could be doing it all again in the future, so just don't do it.

Play with the Beta and send your feedback to Adobe.
