LR2.1 RC1 Smart Collection Logic Error
EDIT: This error was found in LR2.1 RC1, not the released LR2.'.
I believe I found a logic error in LR2 using the Smart Collections. I am hoping someone can verify this. Here is the error:
I was trying to make a smart collection of all images in a collection set that were virtual copies. Since virtual copies isn't an item that we can use per sae, I decided to try and use the Copy Name field and see whether it has text in it or not. If a virtual copy is made, the Copy Name field defaults to 'Copy x'.
Thus, I created the smart collection with the rule 'Collection Is <name of collection>' and then added another rule making sure the 'All' match is selected.
I used common sense at that point and set the rule to be:
'Copy Name isn't empty'
Unfortunately, my smart collection contained all my original images and I knew that I had at least one virtual copy. Then I tried the following rule:
'Copy Name Is empty'
This time the rule worked and the smart collection only contained virtual copies. I checked the metadata and all of the virtual copies contain 'Copy 1'.
Thus, my post here. I believe the logic in this particular rule is backwards.
Let me know what you find.
