On upgrading from 1.4 to 2.' LR has created a new catalog file called "Lightroom 2 Catalog.lrcat" and a previews folder "Lightroom 2 Catalog Previews.lrdata" although it doesn't seem to have copied the previews since all my folders show the 3 white dots initially, so I had to run a render standard previews against the whole catalog.

After seeing comments that keeping 1.4 installed as well could affect LR2 performance I've uninstalled 1.4, and relocated all the LR1.x specific files and folders. But I'm left with some folders that I'm not sure are part of LR2, or if they are, what purpose they serve:
1. "Temporary Folder xxxxx" - contains one raw file at present. Why?
2. "Managed Photos" - contains a whole bunch of folder names from my main picture folders, but no files. What are these?
Can I delete them?

Brian,

1. Temporary Folder - don't know - probably can delete
2) Managed Photos - Have you been using LR for a long time? I see you joined us here quite a while ago. I 'think' this folder may be left over from a very early version of LR, and the concept was later abandoned. - probably can delete. Perhaps wait and see if any other members have an opinion.

Thanks guys. There were no photos in "Managed Photos" so I've now deleted both seemingly redundant folders with no apparent adverse effects.

However, it seems that the folders I found in "Managed Photos" have a direct bearing on the problem I have raised in the Troubleshooting forum, since its images in these folders that are all reporting "Error writing metadata"..
