Vista 64 — Each time I connect a camera to my computer's USB port, Lightroom 2.4 launches its Auto-Import dialog box. I don't want it to do that. So, I go to Edit>Preferences>Import and uncheck "Show Import Dialog Box when a memory card is connected".

The next time I go into Lightroom, it is checked again. And I don't want it checked. (This also affect the setting in Vista's Control Panel>AutoPlay, which keeps setting itself to Open with Lightroom, even though I keep changing it to either Take No Action or Open Windows Explorer)

How to fix this?

I saw the same behavior on my two Vista 64 Bit machines. The 2.4 updated turned on the launch Lightroom and import dialog. I turned it back off and it stuck.

My Vista 32 Bit machine didn't have the problem.

Do you have User Account Control enabled or disabled in your Control Panel?

User Account Control is disabled on my computer.

How did you turn off the auto-import behavior?

Edit - Preferences - Import Tab - Uncheck Show Import Dialog When Memory Card is Detected. Click OK.

When I restart Lightroom, the box is checked again but the behavior of opening an import dialog has gone away.

Hmmm, I did that, but the behavior didn't change.

I can confirm this behavior.
Same on my Windows 7 RC x64. It always resets the setting in Lightroom and Windows to Auto-Import.

I looked into the preferences file. After closing Lightroom, there is still the correct entry and it changes automatically after starting Lightroom the next time.

For now, you could go to Control Panel->Autoplay and change the setting in there, and that works, but you have to do this before you insert a memory card, and you have to do this each time.

Same problem here LR2.4 and Win7RC 64.

Another thing I have noticed in Bridge the "require the control key...." is doing the exact same thing (that being resetting itself). I have no idea if they are related but more information is normally better than less.
