LR1.4.1 quits upon opening the app (OSX 10.5.6)

"The application Lightroom quit unexpectedly"

I have tried moving:

"com.adobe.Lightroom.plist" to the trash, emptying the trash and restarting.

Now it loads and prompts me with the "welcome to LR - how would you like to check for updates" and then quits.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Welcome to the forums Stephen!

Before trying again to start Lightroom, check that there is no .lock file near your .lrcat file. Maybe the dialog telling the Catalog is open in another application is hidden by the Welcome screen. Just a guess at the moment...

Thank you for the kind welcome and sound advice. It looks like the .lock file was the source of the problem. LR appears to be running smoothly now.
