LR to edit, then back to another program for gallery

Howdy,

I shoot primarily in RAW

I really like using Breeze Browsser Pro to quickly view and delete, then I want to import to LR to make any edits, etc...then back to BBP to make Galleries.

Do I need to convert the raw files to jpeg in LR before I move them back to BBP? It's my understanding that LR doesn't do anything with the actual file.

LR works non-destructively and the edits are saved in separate files (sidecar XMP if working with RAW files, or integrated if working with DNG). So you would need to export a JPG or other format to see an edited image outside of LR.

An aside, I use LR to sift through images initially - I import at the current location (without any presets, keywords or metadata: just as they are), then use the Reject flag to mark the Rejects (I can view at the best thumbnail size or in Loupe mode & zoom as I please).

When I've finished marking the Rejects I filter on those Rejects and hit Cmd (or Ctrl)+Delete to permanently delete them from disk, and finally right click on the folder & choose Remove to remove it from LR. I'm then able to re-import the folder with the proper settings "for real". I find this a very quick and convenient first pass.

I don't use LR for that yet, my main computer doesn't have enough horsepower, it's just too slow.
I specialize in taking dog agility photos. At the end of a weekend trial, I might have several thousand pictures to go through.

LR on my machine takes a second or two to render each preview. That doesn't sound like much, but multiplied over a couple thousand pictures, it becomes quite time consuming.

Ah yes, very good point. LR can be a bit heavy on that side. I remember that from my previous setup with a laptop (it was a couple of years old and kinda underpowered for LR).
