LR seemingly randomly decided not to recognize my EHD. Attached is a screen shot showing my library with the EHD not recognized, along with the disk utility recognizing it, and it on my desktop. Any thoughts? I do often get notices overnight that say something like, "disk not properly ejected" when I have not tried to eject it. I have tried quitting LR and unplugging/replugging the EHD. Thanks in advance!

That screen shot would really help.
You can send that with an answer to this question: In MacOS System preferences for Energy Saver, is the checkbox labeled "Put Disks to sleep when Possible" checked? If LrC is using these disks, the may get noted as not mounted in LR when MacOS put them to sleep but not remounted when the system re mounts them.

Can we see the screenshot....it wasn't attached to your first post.

Oops! Sorry!

And yes, the"put hard disks to sleep when possible" box was checked.

That black instead of green rectangle to the left of the volume name is indicating that the volume is offline. The checkbox labeled "Put Disks to sleep when Possible" is the culprit. Shut down Lightroom Classic before putting the computer to sleep or uncheck the box.

It didn't work. Do I need to do a full shut down of my computer? I'll try that, as well as ejecting the EHD and opening it upon restart.

Yes, you need to reboot the Mac before many changes in Preferences can take place.
