I am new to LR Queen. I have been using LR for years but all of sudden this week while editing images using sync LR just freezes. It may work for a while and let me get through the majority of the project and then freeze. If I stop, restart my computer, it does not bring my images back. I backed up my LR catalog onto an external hard driving as it was quite large. I started afresh w/a "new " catalog. I uninstalled LR, installed LR w/the needed updates, and still am having this issue. I am late w/clients' images and wondering now if perhaps my issue is w/my computer hardware. Can anyone point me to a direction that I can look to figure this problem? If this has been posted before, I apologize but I am searching everywhere for clues to fix my LR problem.

Yes It could be the computer.

I always ask users to check their freespace on C:\ Syncing takes a lot of temporary files and if your working storage is full or you don't have enough RAM the Windows can simply freeze up.

I recommend that you keep at lease 100GB freespace on C:\ for working storage and temporary files

How much RAM do you have installed? 32 -64 GB of RAM is usually sufficient.

Another issue Might be your GPU . You need to make sure that you have installed the latest drivers for your video card and have a minimum of 8GB of VRAM to handles the GPU processor on editing processes that require the GPU. Also a 4k monitor or higher needs more VRAM to be able to share the GPU with develop processes that use it.

Thank you, Clee01I, I am highly appreciative of your information. I will look at this today and I will let you know as soon as I know the answers to the questions you pose.

So, I started looking and I guess my computer is older than I thought it was. Time passes by.

Freespace on C:/ is 91gb

16 GB installed RAM

6gb VRAM

Monitor is 4k and sharing 8gb

So, it appears I am in the market for a new computer. Its time to start afresh. Thank you for your help on that. Now I need to doublecheck my settings on LR and make sure I am in a good pile there.

Thank you very much.

For Now, I would recommend that you make sure you have the latest driver installed for your GPU. You might want to free up some working storage on C:\ because that 91GB is minimally acceptable.
Elsewhere on this forum there is an intensive discussion on GPU specs. You might check this out. I’m afraid that I did not pay much attention to the GPU discussion since I am a Mac user and this is not adjustable on the Macs

I saw a significant improvement in Performance when I went from a 16GB M1 iMac to a 64GB M2 Ultra Mac Studio.
