How does this happen?
I am trying to import into a new folder entitled 2020 and within that by date 20200109

The import dialog offers the ability to create a folder:
LR Import Prob 20200110_01.jpg
View attachment 13766

Yet when I navigate there and try to create it ...LR tells me the path doesn't exist despite the navigation to it having taken place within Lightroom:

LR Import Prob 20200110_02.jpg

In order to get this done I'll go back to the catalog and create it there instead, but I'm wondering why this doesn't work.

Is anyone else having this issue?

It does work, but first you have to click on the New Folder option (next to the Organize option). That will put a "New Folder" folder icon in the main centre panel, the "New Folder" will be editable to allow you to type the name of the folder you want it to be, i.e. 2020. Then press enter to create the folder, then Select Folder to select it.
