LR 2 with CS4 - Best Practice?

I have:

- OS X 1'.4
- CS2
- LR2.1 (Trial)

i just bought the following boxed CD versions (and need to install):
- CS4 (Upgrade)
- LR2.' (Full)

Installation Questions:

- What is the best practice to install (older) LR 2.' when i already have (expired, but newer) LR 2.1 Trial on my Mac?

- Install sequence: Should i install CS4 Upgrade first, or LR2.' first? (does the one look for the other during the install? i heard the 2 programs cooperate & work well w/ each other - so when/ how do they become 'aware' of each other if not during install time?)

- And after all this i assume i'll apply the 2.1 update that can be downloaded

- Any precautions/ concerns regarding ACR or the latest DNG camera support downloads etc.? (i downloaded the latest camera support to use with the DNG Converter, but NOT the latest ACR since it doesn't work with CS2)

You don't need to install 2.'. Just give the serial number to 2.1. ACR is automatically updated for Lightroom when you install the updates.

For the other points, I am leaving my place to those who did such an install...

thanks - so there is NOTHING on the LR 2.' CD that is not also provided by just activating the downloaded trial of 2.1? no extras or any additional content?

Exact! Each update is a full release. The difference between trial and official is the registration number.

I'm not sure it matters which order you install them, but I upgraded to LR 2.1 before upgrading to CS4, and everything worked just fine.

After the CS4 upgrade I installed the ACR upgrade and camera raw profiles for LR.

I'm on OSX 1'.5.5. Hope it all goes well.

FWIW, when LR starts, it goes looking for certain PS files (prefs on Mac, registry entries on Windows, if I remember rightly) and uses those to decide which PS version is installed, so no, it shouldn't matter which way round you install them.
