Any one recommend a good manual for LR 2?
I have Scott Kelby's for 1.x and it's less than worthless.

Any one seen Ron Sheppard's new book?

Thanks,

Allan

There is an Adobe Lightroom 2 Classroom in a Book available, although I have never read it so I don't know how good it is. Might be worth a shot.

Our very own Victoria Bampton's Adobe Lightroom 2: The Missing FAQ is also recommended.

There are other books available, but I am not familiar with them at the moment. As a matter of fact, we have some other authors here, but I am not sure if they are ready to announce their books just yet, so I'll leave that up to them.

Out of curiosity, what didn't you like about the book by Scott Kelby?

See, now that annoys the hell out of me.

Considering the crap documentation from 1.' release and including the current 2.' release, why is this not included in the purchase of the product in the form of an e-book?

ggrrrrrr

Now, now Brad - go and have a cold Touheys or two!!:cheesy::cheesy::cheesy::mrgreen::mrgreen:

Oh, I don't know, I read the help file from cover to cover (yeah, that's really sad!) and whilst it makes the driest reading on the planet, there is decent info in there.

Anyway, back to books....

Well, yeah, of course I have to recommend mine! LOL I'd also throw a word in for Martin Evening's book though. Very different styles - his is more tutorial based, mine more of a reference book - so it depends on which is going to suit you best.

Adobe already got my money for this product, bit rich to ask for $35 more for the documentation on it.

Victoria, i bought yours and love it. However, maybe you would not have needed to even develop it had there been appopriate documentation to start with.

Geoff, Tooheys New mate.

I cast another vote for Martin Evening's book in conjunction w/ Victoria's, which is really quick for finding things in, particularly technical issues.

Have you read the manual released by Adobe?

That is my first choice, always.
It is a very informative piece. If you print it as suggested, it becomes a real manual.
I would recommend Evening's book (excelent!) and, of course, Victoria's.

Regards,

Victoria,

We are going to have to take your LR Queen photo and post it on one of those dating web sites! You need to get out more often for your own good. :cheesy:

I'm a little late to this thread, but let me say a word about our Lightroom Help (since I wrote it). The in-product Help is indeed scant--it's just one chapter of the entire online help content, which is here: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Lightroom/2.'/index.html. We put most of it online because it provides us many benefits, including the capability to update it quickly.

In fact, we have an entirely new online help system now, called Community Help. In addition to our own documentation, we have a custom Google search engine that includes the best learning content from around the web. So if you go to the link above, you can search not just Adobe content, but all of the instructional content we've included in our index. In addition, there's live commenting on the help pages, with expert moderators (including some folks from this forum). So you can ask questions, get answers, share insights, point others to good content, and easily find text and video tutorials.

If you go to the Lightroom Help and Support page, http://www.adobe.com/support/photoshoplightroom/ (which is where you land when you choose Help > Lightroom Help from within the product), you'll also find links to a bunch of video tutorials hosted by AdobeTV.

Please, check it out, and enjoy.

Thank you for chiming in, Anita!

Always a pleasure to see you here!

Don

I give a big thumbs up for Martin Evening's book.

I have a neutral position on Tim Grey's Lightroom Workflow
