I was wondering if anyone has tried the LR 2.6 Release candidate... and if so dod you notice any improvements/differences?

Adobe says it can be installed parallel with V2.5... but how do you just install it over V2.5?.... or is that not a good idea with a release candidate?

Bennett, the 2.6 fundamentally just added camera support, with a scant few bug fixes. We haven't seen much, if any, in the way of 'new' complaints about problems. Most of the complaints are of the "they still didn't do x or y, that I wanted them to do." I upgraded in a heartbeat, have had zero issues. Can't say much about performance differences. I spend a lot of time bebopping back and forth from 2.6 to 3.', so my judgement is is clouded there.

I think the normal 2.6 installation will overwrite the existing program. On Mac, I believe you can have multiple versions in parallel, but being Windows myself, I don't know the details of how to do it. On Windows, you can have different major versions, i.e. 2.6 and 3.' in parallel, but have to resort to hackery to get 2.x beside 2.x.

Hi, This may be a dumb question, but what is a Release Candidate. This is not a real release yet (Between beta and live)? Is that way when in 2.5 and I click on check for update, it does not show?

See below, yes, and yes.

The Lr team has tried to very inclusive and open with new versions. A 'Beta' means, look out, we're not completely sure what it's going to do, and is probably not what will end up being released. A 'Release Candidate' has been pre-release/beta tested by some unknown group of users, presumably including pro photogs and book authors. It's generally believed to be quite stable by those folks, and is being released to a larger volunteer audience to see how it works out in the wild, with all the crazy setups and workflows that may be encountered. When it's finally released as an upgrade, it'll be available on the 'check for upgrades' menu.

It installs just like a regular upgrade. You can find it here: http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/Lightroom_2.6

To install 2.6 RC OVER 2.5 on Snow Leopard do I just drag the 2.6 file into applications or will the package ask if I want to overwrite? I do not want 2 parallel versions

Let it install and just delete the spare app if you don't want 2 parallel
