LR 2.6 not printing color correctly

I am using Windows Vista and an Epson R34' and I cannot get LR to render the picture colors correctly. Seems that it desaturates (halfway) any picture I try to print. It even shows wrong in the preview - which does save a lot of time, ink and paper as I have been testing. If I save (Export) the picture to a .jpeg and print in Windows it prints correctly.

I have tried using ICC control and Printer Color Management - Managed by Printer

I have Media Type - Glossy

I have the printer driver setup:
Basic
Photo - Sheet - Borderless - Premium Glossy Photo Paper - 4x6 (The last three setting do not change the results)

Advanced
Color Management - I have tried all three settings 1) Color Control - Gamma 1.8 2) Photo Enhance and 3) ICM on or off
Color Mode - I have tried all three settings 1) Epson Standard 2) Epson Vivid and 3) Adobe RGB

I have requested Epson help and they told me to install a Microsoft hotfix KB Article Number(s): 951759. I did this and the hotfix would not install because it was not applicable to my system.

I would appreciate any help I can get on this problem.

The proper way to do this is to choose ICC control or Application Manages Color within Epson's printer driver.
Then you need to select the appropriate Epson profile for your printer/ink/paper combination, as Lr's printer color management at the bottom of the Right Hand Panel.

Not being an Epson user, I can't give more precise instruction than that. I expect/hope an Epson user will have something specific to offer shortly.

The R34' does not have ICC profiles - or at least they do not show up in the Lightroom selections. I also have an Epson R18'' which does have downloadable ICC profiles which do show up and seem to work OK - not great but OK. Printing with .jpg under just Vista is still better there also but not totally unacceptable as printing to the R34'.

Thanks for the suggestion however.

I have a cheapo HP, with no profiles, and I have the best luck with 'printer manages color'. I've created profiles with Color Munki, but I've never been able to completely disable color management within the printer, so no satisfaction there.

I'm still hopeful someone who knows your specific printer will chime in.....
