Lr 2.6 32-bit (on XP) and 64-bit (on 7) accessing the same catalog

I've recently installed Windows 7 (64-bit) on a second HD and I'm dual booting alongside my old Windows XP.
I'm not sure if it is completely safe to access (and alter) the same catalog using Lr 2.6 32-bit (on XP) and 64-bit (on 7).
I wouldn't expect any problems but would like to hear if anyone has done that before without corrupting the catalog.

The catalog is a single user SQLlite Database file. Most databases are designed to be accessed across a netwots from a variety of sources. In this regard the LE database is no different. The reason that this database is single user is to maintain referential integrity. It does not matter whether is is accessed by an XP user or a Win7 user or a Mac user. As long as only one user can access the database at a time, you should be fine. Since you have probably already done this with Win7, you have already crossed over that bridge. Don't worry about it.

Having already made the switch to Win7, there really is no reason to maintain an XP OS on your computer. I expect that you will soon delete the OS from your computer to free up wasted space on your HD.

That's exactly what I'm planning to do: using either the 32-bit or the 64-bit app to access the same catalog. One app at a time.

Not really! Just to be safe I've duplicated my catalog to be used exclusively with the 64-bit app. But if noone has had any problems I'll jump in the river...

Actually there is a lot of programs I use (both professionally and for leisure) that I would like to test for a while in Windows 7 before removing my old trusted XP. See the Intel example...

There are absolutely no problems accessing the same Lightroom catalog from either XP or Windows7 or even a Mac for that matter as long that only one system or session have access at a given time.
