Installed LR 2.5 to a new Win 7 box. Entered serial numbers and LR started OK, but when I close LR and restart, it asks for serial numbers again.

Thanks for any assistance.

Thanks for the quick response, Victoria!

The regedit path listed for Vista doesn't seem to exist for Win 7. I searched the registry for "serial_number," "registration," and other possibilities, but no luck. Could 64-bitness be a problem?

Cheers,
Steve

Adobe responded, in part, as follows:

"We believe your issue is resolved and have therefore closed your case #2'2645724."

"About your concern, try to check the system requirement of the product if it will run on a 64 bit. We are still conducting test since Windows 7 is a new Operating System."

I'd be grateful for any assistance.

Seeing as we are on different OS, this won't be a direct solution for you BUT I had success in resolving a bigger problem by deleting a corrupted registration file. It also solved my serial # retention problem. Perhaps the same will work for you?

On my system, I went to -> Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom/Lightroom 2 Registration file. I deleted the registration file and got up and running again. Finally without having to input the darn serial number!

I don't know where the file would be for Win 7. On Vista it's located at:
C:\Users\[Username]f\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Lightroom 2.' Registration.lrreg

I hope this works for you! It was really annoying to deal with!

Many thanks, quetzalita! Brilliant solution! I deleted "Lightroom 2.' Registration.lrreg" and 64-bit LR 2.5 started up normally.

Best wishes,
Steve

Fabulous new Steve! And well done quetzelita!
