lR 2.4: Anyone noticed and significant differences?

Anyone noticed and significant difference from V2.3?

I have logged 19 Crashes today on my primary system since updating this morning. I had no crashes yesterday.

Some crashes occur when activating the Graduated Filter, Some when using the Adjustment brush. Some when showing two photos in Survey Mode. Recently, selecting a filter (Pick, No Flag, etc) will crash me.

I will be testing quite a bit before I upgrade my other three systems.

Whem I opened my v2.3 created catalog in v2.4, all my images that were located on a network drive were lost and I had to reacquaint LRv2.4 with their location.

Wish I had known tis before I updated. All my catalogs from v2.3 opened in 2.4 states "photo is missing" and the reacquaintance is taking forever.

Then there's the issue of exporting to any preset for a single image in Develop, it asks location to export to. I have drive locations associated with each preset, I shouldn't have to tell LR again.

The headache of trying to reacquaint an image on a drive to the same in Lightroom and it says it's named different because Lightroom has selected a different image.

Or when you select an image in the grid and it jumps to the one to the left of it.

I think the LR developers were having a few bad days when they programmed this update. now how do I go back to v2.3 so I can actually get some work done?

Knock on wood!

I see no difference when I upgraded to 2.4. I can import, export without any problems. And I can see all my images( no broken links).

What we are hearing here with problems is most unusual. First I hope all took the precaution of backing up before upgrading.
We would appreciate a little more detail on what has been done and exactly what happened, we are here to help but please help us too!!

I can tell you that changing modules during an XMP write after an adjustment brush use will crash my Vista 32 Bit system about 1/3 of the time.

I haven't had a Vista 64 Bit or a Mac crash yet. The Vista 32 bit is up to 24 crashes since 2.4 upgrade.

I did notice that it fired up a bit quicker than 2.3 and I have had full functionality to import, export, etc. so far, but one oddity since installing 2.4 ...
My identity plate feature no longer works! Whether I choose a custom identity plate, or custom text for it, neither display. However, I am able to change the font of the modules just fine. All the settings in the preferences for it are all set to show it, so no clue what's going on here. Any ideas on how to get that back?

Try rebooting, or even just restarting LR. That's been an intermittent bug for a long time, but no one's managed to track down reproducible steps to cause it.

Except for the glitch on missing images located on my network drive, I really don't think the new release has made a negative impact on my work. It took me maybe 1' minutes to reacquaint LR with my network drives and relink ~2'k images.

I see no reason to to disuade anyone from making the switch.

The D/L installed 2.4 in a separate folder from 2.3. They could have stopped right there and both versions would have been available. Without asking, the install uninstalled my old version

Catalogs are on my desktop, vast majority of files are on USB storage drives (3 of them)
With v2.3 if I shut my Mac down, or ejected a USB drive, when the drive came back online LR 2.3 would search for the files and find the location, and quickly too. With v2.4 I have to point LR to the files and it can literally take hours to re-associate the files for a catalog with perhaps 6''' images in it.

The main thing I have noticed is waiting for the spinning beach ball a lot more during developing, especially the local adj brush. I'm not sure if it's the 2.4 upgrade or the fact I haven't been using LR much for the last couple of weeks due to being busy with work and maybe the 1:1 previews have been deleted from the cache.

I noticed in Win x64 version (sorry, haven't checked others), due to the fact that I have the Contour Shuttle programmable keypad, that my programmed keys for selecting Library and Develop modules stopped working after the update. The shortcut keys (Ctrl-Alt-1 for Library and Ctrl-Alt-2 for Develop) no longer work in this version. Fortunately I can also use D for develop and E for Library, so I switched to using these instead. Apart from this the only other annoying bug which is occasional, is that it reports some of my 5d2 images as being corrupted.

They still didn't fix my multi-screen scroll issue in this version ;o(

Since I've upgraded to 2.4 I can't get the checkbox for "Show import dialog when a memory card is detected" to stay unchecked. I uncheck it, click OK, then shut down and restart Lr and the checkbox is checked again.

What am I overlooking? >:D

Nothing. It is a problem introduced in Ver 2.4. I would guess you are running Vista 64 Bit OS? I haven't seen the issue on Mac or Vista 32

That seems to be a new bug introduced somehow in 2.4, sorry!
