Lightroom seems to have decided to make changes of it's own volition...at least, that's as near as I can figure. Here's the problem:

I open the local adjustment mask options and either draw a new mask or edit an existing one on some of my as yet un-edited photos. Now, if I adjust any settings other than exposure, it works normally. If I adjust the exposure...I get a huge spike in my Yellow on the histogram.

It doesn't seem to be doing it to photos I had already edited/masked prior to this weekend, nor does it seem to do it to photos that are not clipping. It seems to like photos that have a lot of yellow, and/or ones that have even a tiny bit of overexposure. Photos of fire in particular are culprits.

Oddly, the effect is not graduated...whether I adjust the exposure positive or negative, a small increment or a large one, the effect is identical. I have played with the HSL adjustments, exposure, brightness and contrast, and I have yet to be able to duplicate the adjustment through any other tools.

I'm confounded as hell on this one. Anyone else stumble across this glitch incarnation?

Welcome Ringmaster, haven't heard of that. We need more information so to help us help you could you please take a moment to fill in your signature in the "userCP' that is found in the nav-bar at the top left of the page - thanks.

We also would like to know what sort of files you are using, raw or jpeg and what brand.

Hi Ringmaster, welcome to the forum!

It'd also really help to see examples of the images in question.

Thanks for replying.

I shoot on a Nikon D7' in RAW format. I've uploaded two images; one with no masks applied, the other with a single, small spot of a mask somewhere in the black area with the exposure tweaked to the negative. If you direct your attention to the fire, it has become extensively overexposed in comparison to the unmasked photo, even though the mask was not applied to that area at all. Only the areas containing yellow seem to be affected.

If there's anything else I can provide that you suspect might yield any clues, just let me know!

Interesting Ian! Ok, next thought - hit Ctrl-S to write the metadata to the file (which will include your local adjustments) and see if you can upload the original file somewhere for us to download - it'll be too big for here but something like www.yousendit.com would work.

Ian, I've looked at the file and it is a very weird result!!
Can I pass the file on......??

I remember Brad. Melissa said it was down to the different resampling between Develop and Library module and the different zoom ratios. If I remember rightly, Fit and 1:1 in Library and Develop at 1:1 were all the same, and Develop Fit view was different on highly saturated oranges.

I'm completely at a loss on this one; seems you guys
are in the same boat. Was hoping I wouldn't have to,
but I think a re-install is going to be in order this
weekend...

Ian, I have tried a variety of things including syncing your settings to a similar file I have and cannot replicate what is in your file. Are you happy for me to pass it on to the engineers?

Sure, pass it on. I'll do a re-install and hopefully
that will fix it. If you do hear back at any point
about it though, I'd be curious to know the
official verdict.

Ian I couldn't get it to happen after removing that brush and replacing it with another, on a copy of course.
Tray making a copy and deleting the brush and adding a new one. I don't believe a reinstall will achieve anything though.

I can't look at it straight away as I am rebuilding 13k previews and that may take some time!! Experimenting.......... LOL

I can get it to happen after removing that brush and creating another. It specifically has to be an exposure brush mark somewhere - none of the other sliders have the same effect. Just a bit more info for the bug report.

Reinstall won't fix it Ringmaster, but use the Brightness slider in the brush will give a similar result to the Exposure slider in most cases, as a workaround for now.

In the system already, Victoria.......:):)

The bug is logged and there is no fix expected immediately, but it is being looked at and will be fixed.
Thanks for your work Ian!!
