LR 2.3 - Can't Change Preferences

I've been UNABLE to change some of my Preferences under the General, Presets and Import tabs. The current preferences are "locked."

Oddly, I CAN make adjustments to preferences in the "File Handling" and "Interface" tabs.

As a fix, I deleted the Preference file as per the troubleshooting steps outlined elsewhere on this site, and then Relaunched and Optimized, but no improvement.

Wow, that'a a new one. When you say 'locked', do you mean the choices are 'grayed-out', clicking won't change the setting, a changed setting won't save or something else? What are you actually seeing? OS?

No, nothing is greyed out. Everything, including the tick boxes look normal but they don't accept any new "ticks", and I can't untick the currently ticked boxes.

BUT - After further experimentation, I have discovered that it's not a Lightroom issue, but rather a mouse issue. When I use my WACOM tablet everything works fine - so I can manage with that.

Hi Linda, welcome to the forum!

That's the first time I've heard of that one too.

My first guess would be a corrupted preferences file, but you said you'd tried that, didn't you.

File permissions would be my next thought. Or perhaps a corrupted installation - try reinstalling?
