Hi all, my apologies if there is an easy answer to this, but I've spent 3 hours trying to find the problem. I've just upgraded to 2.2 and am having issues when importing NEF's. Lightroom is changing certain settings on every photo imported (except those with .xmp information). Exposure goes up to 1.27, recovery up to 48, it's also changing Lights and darks on the curve graph, basically the photos are being washed out. I'm not an advanced user and any help would be much appreciated

Jim, sounds like one of three things.

If the settings are similar, but not identical , most likely, Auto tone is turned on in the Edit > Preferences > Import tab. Make sure that box is unchecked. See attachment 1.

If the settings are identical, most likely, you've got a develop preset of some sort applied in the import dialog. Make sure that the Develop preset is set to 'None' on import. See attachment 2.

In the meantime, to fix all the images back to default, select them all in Grid View, and in the Library Quick Develop (QD) panel, click on the Saved Default selection box, and at the top of the resulting list, choose 'Default settings'. [If this doesn't restore the images, then that means you're having the third of the three likely problems, and we'll need some more discussion.]

Hi Brad, thank you your quick response. I have double checked what you have suggested and neither of these are the problem. The settings that are being implemented to each photo are identical. It would appear that when opening a picture through camera raw in to cs3 exactly the same thing is occuring. Thank you for you time

Then, I expect somehow you've changed the default image settings.

Try this, select one of the images in Develop, hold down shift, and notice that the reset button lower right of Develop panel turns to Reset(Adobe). Clicking on that should restore the original Adobe default setting.

And if that fixes it, you'll then want to reset the Default settings for future imports by going to Develop menu > Set Default Settings and press the Reset to Adobe Defaults button.

Thank you all for your responses, you've hit the nail on the head, problem solved. I really for the life of me can't understand how I did it, maybe I should cut the beer out of the equation when editing! Wish you all a very good christmas :) James
