I am having major trouble with LR13 (and LR 13.0.1).

I am on a Mac with the latest OS, Sonoma. LR 13 does open Photoshop 2024, but when I save a file in PS it does not go next to the origianl file, which it should, but appears somewhere else on my HD.

LR 13 will NOT open such plugin staples as Luminar 4.

It is way too slow.

Doe snayone have similar issues?

You may need to uninstall both and reinstall in this order: PS so the LrC install can find it. Then LrC.

Is your MacOS intel or ARM? My M1 iMac is just as speedy as LrC 12 and 11

I installed and uninstalled several times - no improvement.

I am on Intel.

I’ll turn this over to someone else. I’m not aware of issues with intel Macs but apart from that, this is the only difference between your Mac and mine. Hopefully someone with a closer understanding of the LrC bugs can assist

Please explain what you mean with ‘somewhere else on my HD’. Is this only in Lightroom Classic? Or do you also see the file in a different folder when you look for it in the Finder?

it does save it in the same folder, but NOT next to the original file (which it should).

LR Classic 13.01 will not open Luminar 4. It starts "preparing" fole for export to Luminar, and then it hangs.

That is a matter of changing the sort order. You have probably set it to ‘Added Order’. Change this to file name and the two will be side by side.

No. It was not set to Added Order, but to the usual Capture Time. Changing to File Name does work, but adds another step to the worfkflow. When you work with many imnages, that does matter.

Other issues:

1. In Develop module I want to edit a photo in PS 2024. The photo does open, but PS remains in the background. In previous versions of Lightroom PS came to the forfront, saving you yet another step in the workflow. When you close the alreday saved PS file, Photoshop remains at the front, forcing you to manually switch to LR, making the whole process unnecessarily tedious. When you have 1 million files switching between Capture Time and File Name all the time makes a big difference.

2. All my other plugins, including Luminar 4, Topaz Denoise AI, Topaz Sharpen etc do NOT work. When I proceed in the usual way, Develop Module> Photo > Edit In... LR starts "preparing the file" and it hangs there. No file gets turned into a tiff, no external plugin gets opened.

iMac with 64G of RAM, Mac OS Sonoma, LR 13.0.1, Photoshop 2024, Luminar 4, Topaz DenoiseAI, Topaz Sharpen AI

All of those worked flawlessly until Adobe hit us with LR 13.

Other bugs in the current iteration of LR, probably unrelated to Photoshop, is the inability to move between pictures whilst in the Develop module.

Previously, you could use the up, down, left and right arrows and the thing would move between the various frames. Not any longer. The arows seem to work, but the preview you see on the screen remains the same.

The Left/Right Arrows continue to work for me in Develop. The Up/Down arrows have never functioned to move the image in focus in the Develop module.

Do you mean that in Develop, left and right arrow will change the thumbnail selected in the filmstrip but that the Loupe view (the large view of the photo) doesn't change? If my understanding is correct, then usually resetting preferences will fix that.:
https://www.lightroomqueen.com/articles-page/how-do-i-reset-lightrooms-preferences/

LR sometimes soils its preferences file, and resetting it can fix all sorts of wonky behavior. That article explains how to restore the old preferences if resetting doesn't help.
