LR 1.4 - duplicating files

Hi, I've been using LR1.4 for a couple of weeks and have imported existing files from their original location. I now discover there are dupes of each file in the same folder which seem to be identical except "-2" has been added to the (.jpeg) file name. Why is this, is it necessary for LR to do this and if not how can I stop it happening? Thanks

Have you perhaps exported jpegs to the same folders as the originals?

Thanks Victoria, I have done it with perhaps one or two files but it has duplicated all the files in about 15 sub folders of a main folder.

That's a truly bizarre problem Michas. I've never heard of LR doing that on its own before.

Sounds like the result of exporting the jpeg files multiple times to the same location , and telling LR to use unique names.
