Lost photos in collections

Hi there I am having trouble with workflow & Lightroom 2.4! I recently moved some image files from the hard drive of my Mac G5 to an external drive, as a back up drive and I have now lost some (not all) of the photos in my Lightroom collections... Short of re copying the external drive back to the hard drive ( and risk losing recent data .. as I use the hard drive for work in progress) has anyone got a suggestion for finding the mislaid collection photos?

Hi Steve, welcome to the forum!

Can you tell us a little more. How did you go about moving the files? And how did you tell Lightroom about the move?

When I migrated to v2.4 from v2.3, All my images stored on the network drive were 'lost' to LR. Bringing up the context menu for the folder with mising files and helping LR find the missing files was necessary to restore Lightroom's referential integrity.

Ah, ok. It sounds like something else is maybe going on here. Restoring missing files by simply pointing them back in the right direction shouldn't have affected collections in any way, shape or form. Do you have an earlier backup that you can check whether they were still there before?
