Hi all,

Previously when working in Lightroom 2.3 I have had access to and used the camera specific calibration profiles based on my Nikon D3''. For the last couple of days, those camera specific profiles no longer appear. Now the only profile options that appear are ACR 4.3 and 4.4.

I believe Lightroom is working on my RAW (Nikon NEF) files since "NEF+JPG" appears in the main window when viewing images. "D3''" is also showing up in the metadata for my images.

I have searched here, Adobe help, and Googled for answers, but without any no luck. If anyone has any ideas what is going on and how to resolve it I would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks,

paul

Hmmm ... that's a new one on me. I would uninstall Lightroom, then download a fresh copy of 2.3 and install.

I believe that's a correct assumption. The ACR profiles indicate that Lr thinks it's working on a raw, otherwise it would indicate 'embedded' profile, and offer no options.

As Rob says an un/re-install cycle may restore the other calibration profiles. If you haven't already tried that, perhaps it's worth first reverting the 'preferences' file to default. See step 4 in Troubleshooting Steps.

any gotchas with an uninstall/reinstall?

Thanks Rob and Brad for your quick replies. I have tried resetting the preferences but that didn't resolve the problem.

I guess my next step is an uninstall/reinstall. That prospect gives me some heartburn due to thousands of images I have processed in multiple catalogs. I will backup all my catalogs before uninstalling, are there any other steps I need to be sure to take so I hopefully won't lose any of my previous LR work?

Thanks,

paul

A good backup of the *.lrcat file(s) should be sufficient. Remove Lr using the Windows > Control Panel > Add/Remove Software function. I'd say redownload Lr 2.3 fresh from Adobe. Your existing serial number should be recognized and nothing in the install/reinstall should affect your existing catalogs. Many of us here have done this literally dozens of (or more) times.

Lost profiles are back after uninstall/reinstall

Thanks Brad for following up regarding my question about unistalling/reinstalling LR.

I did as you suggested and after the reinstall all of my camera specific profiles are back. LR recognized my registration and even remembered where all of my catalogs were too. Pretty slick.

The only new thing I did with LR before losing the profiles was to export some files to CD. I will be doing that again soon so I will watch if the same issue arises again.

Thanks again to you and Rob for your help!
