Loss of masking tools.

Hi I have a problem with Lightroom masking tools. If I have an image open and switch to masking tools chose various mask everything is fine. If I then change the magnification I lose the tool I'm using and have to come out of mask go into basic and back to mask to continue. Is this normal? Also I have lost the use of the WB picker on occasions. To get this back I have to leave Lightroom completely and reopen. Any help would be appreciated. Lightroom 12.2.1 Mac Ventura 13.2.1
