Have a client who has many duplicate images (in seperate folders) in their catalog. One of the duplicates has Exif (camera) data but no other significant metadata. The other one has other metadata like keywords, titles, and captions. In some cases one of them also has edits. She would like to get all the metadata into one of the images (the one with edits if one has them) so she can delete the other one.

I vaguely recall hearing about a plug in with capabilities that might help but I can't recall which plugin that is. If anyone know of such a plug in, please respond with where I can find it.

thanks -- Dan

John Beardsworth has one that will do that. I think it is called "Search and Replace". "Syncomatic"

Solution
I do not think Search and Replace Transfer plugin does this. John Beardsworth plugin called "Syncomatic" does copy selected metadata and edits between photos BUT not if they have exact FULL filenames including extension. If the client has not converted their files to DNG then they could convert the source files to DNG and use Syncomatic. If they are both DNG than they could export the source files nto the same folder including metadata to a JPG or TIFF keeping the filename the same and then use Syncomatic between the JPG and DNG. Syncomatic works GREAT. I use it for a special iPad to Mac offline sync.

Edit: I played around with Syncomatic a bit and it DOES sync files of the EXACT same name in different folders. John did a great job with this plugin.

Agreed. I've used John's plugin for some years, works great.

Thanks - I'll have a look at it.

If it's a raw -> raw or other same type, the plugin won't know which files you want to copy from. So put those with the metadata in a new collection and those without in another. The plugin then asks you which collection contains the source files.
