Is it possible to consolidate several brush strokes into one? If you use the adjustment brush on an image, every brush stroke (click-drag-release) become its own entry in the history even though it belongs to the same adjustment pin. The good thing is that you have control over every individual stroke. The bad thing is that the history list can become huge after some editing, and it's hard to see what each individual stroke do.

No, there's no way to do that today, but it's a feature I've been requesting since the 1.x days. I'd encourage you to file a feature request through the link in the bar at the top of the page.

I'm not aware of any but I was just thinking about that the other day... about how nice it would be to have a "merge history" feature, based on your selected history of course. I had a shoot in which I failed to totally blow out my white seamless background so I was hoping to quickly run thru in LR2 and use the adjustment brush to bring up the bg to pure white. As usual, the first few brush strokes were relatively quick but once I got into it.... slooooowwwww down. Oh, well, I'm at a point in which I'm ready to get a kickaxe desktop anyway and I've heard the potential for LR2/CS4 on a machine with a i7 processor, 64bit OS, and 8-12GB RAM. I just want to see the changes occur as I move the brush. I'm tired of slowly applying the brush and then having to wait while the preview updates 1' seconds later. Or worse, when I move my cursor over to the slider bar and have a delayed streak appear across my whole image 1' seconds later. Very frustrating but prolly just my laptop.

Sounds just like my PC... I'm overdue for new fast hardware. Have also heard good things about i7. So, it's just the money-thing then...

I've been on an i7, (the 92', I think, 2.67 GHz), with 6GB DDR3, VistaHP, 64bit, for a couple of weeks now, and I'm quite happy with performance. I haven't truly stressed local adjustments yet, but casual usage seems real-time. In the US, Costco.com had a pretty deep discount on a Dell built system. By the time I figured in Vista, and the included monitor, I couldn't assemble it cheaper myself (my usual practice.)
