I'd like to lock a custom cropping ratio (16x9) so that I can use it for several images in a session without having to set this each time. I've played with the "lock" icon but it doesn't seem to work.

This should be easy to do. I must be overlooking somthing simple.

Help!

After cropping the first 16x9, go to the next one with the crop tool active and press "S" (for Same ratio)...

Keep the lock locked so when you drag the corners around, they will keep the 16x9 aspect.

The lock icon preserves the chosen aspect ratio in the current crop, (as opposed to allowing you to drag either side to drag a 2*3 to a 2*2 e.g.) and not from image to image. For multiple images, one option is to select them in Library Grid view and apply the crop there. That will result in a centered-largest dimension crop, which you can then tweak individually in Develop module. You can also sync, or auto-sync crops using those functions with the Develop filmstrip. 'Previous' also works, if there are no intervening images.

Edit: Never mind, Denis' tip is perfect. Where'd you pick that one up Denis? I learn something new every day.

On the keyboard just right of the letter A :D:lol:

Anita Dennis probably... Keep this one handy! But it is not from there I learned it. Can't remember or find again at the moment.

EDIT: Found my reference! It was from Sean McC blog december 5, 2''8.
