Lights out freaks out

This is in Lightroom 2. Adjusting Greyscale with the adjustment tool you drag onto the picture. I then went to lights dim and lights out. The immediate frame around the picture dims out, but the side panels do not. The menubar starts flickering.

Correction is to turn lights back on and get rid of the adjustment tool. Then go back and try it again and it works.
