I have a gallery entry from ten years ago which got stored on my external 4T hard drive, aka Time machine. I was able to get the file located (took ten steps) from two computers back, and drop it on the
desktop. I get a file named IMG_2679.CR2.lrbak. That file shows up on the desktop just fine, but when I try to load it into LR, it flashes on the LR screen and vanishes. The icon on the desktop is a black square
with exec printed on it, nothing else. The file name is listed below the black square.
I would really like to retrieve this file, and also learn my lesson once and for all about saving files in the right place.

The .lrbak extension implies that this is not the original raw file. It's a temporary file that you cannot use.
