For some reason which I do not understand when I open Lightroom CC on my Mac it opens at its maximum size and I can not shrink or resize it. On most programs when I enlarge the window to full screen, click the green dot at the top left of the window, the menu bar at the top of the screen disappears, however it reappears again when the mouse is moved to the fop of the screen. At one time when I opened Lightroom the window was not full screen allowing me to resize it, but now it opens to full screed and when I move the mouse to the top of the screen the menu bar does not appear, therefore, I am unable to shrink the window. Does anyone know what I did to get myself into this situation and how to fix it?

Try Shift+F once of twice (that key combination cycles through some different LrC full-screen layouts).
