I read the following on the net and would like some feedback please

Lightroom Performance tip : Empty Recycle Bin

1/ whether it is a good option -i e does it really work?
2/ What are the disadvantages of emptying the recycle bin?

3/ where does one find Lightroom recycle bin?

4/ also best method to empty?

5/ How often can one empty the recycle bin?

This tip is referring to the Windows recycle bin; there were reports that having hundreds or thousands of files in your Windows recycle bin slows things down.

This has nothing to do with Lightroom. Lightroom is only the by-stander being side-swipped. When your recycling bin has thousands, ten of thousands of files and the hard drive is more than 8'% full, the OS will be slow. Therefore Lightroom will be slow.

As a related problem, when I did tech support in a school I quickly learned that the kids would turn off the Windows machines without going through the shutdown routine. This stored the temp files as permanent and filled up the hard drive. With a full or mostly full hard drive everything slowed to a crawl or didn't work at all. They thought I was quite brilliant when it was fixed...I told them that the "Johnson File" was corrupt and needed replacing. Anyone remember the mythical "Johnson Rod" of early car days? I learned it was always better to make up something complicated than tell everyone how easy it was to fix! It was called 'job security'!!!
