lightroom & noise reduction on by default

i did notice that the noise reduction "color" is every time turn on
even i have pics @ iso 1''
why?
can i set it off by default?

Set everything the way that you want it for your default settings and then go to the Develop menu and choose Set Default Settings. When the dialog box comes up choose Update to Current Settings.

Then you need to find images for each ISO/camera combination, make sure everything else is set to your normal defaults, and set the noise reduction settings (or other default settings) that you want.

what's the meaning of default setting??
i know that lightroom at last 1.3.1 can read metadata in canon raw files
because i tried to shoot with contrast +4 & another shoot @ contrast '
and imported to lightroom -->and i can see 2 different settings in develop panel that is lightroom is able to detect my contrast +4
maybe because i shoot in raw+jpg , don't know

Well I'm glad the blog's helpful Giovanni. I really should get around to adding more content, but it was only intended to save me repeating myself on often asked questions!

As far as I know, nothing changed in 1.3.1 to allow it to read in camera settings like that, so I'll investigate that one further when I have time. Very odd!

Your steps are close.
1 - is ok
2 - don't do this
3 - do this
4 - click the + on the develop presets panel and create a new preset with the settings you want checked - you may wish to call it "no Noise"
5 - Apply the new preset on import by selecting it from the drop down menu for presets in the import menu - it is on "none" by default which is not no setting but the default settings.

Hope that is clear.

thanks Victoria , but why should lightroom use the denoiser even for pics taken @ 1'' iso? maybe in a deep light day , like today at last here..

Noise is less of a problem with the currently cameras - even 1'' ISO on some of the older ones needed it. I leave it on default personally.

The defaults for noise reduction and also sharpening are applied by LR in processing raw files which it needs to do in making a default rendition. Remember raw files are not in a viewable format. These settings are not applied when jpegs/tiffs are imported.

If LR had set the default at ' then there would be no room for you reduce the application applied, the existing method adopted by LR provides the user with the option to increase or reduce the default amount.
