Hey guys, I am new to the forum. I just wanted to ask a quick question regarding PS and LR. I want to edit some portrait pics shot in RAW in PS, but when I go to save the edited pic in RAW, it does not work with LR. Am I suppose to work with LR first and slap on the preset prior to editing the pictures in PS? Please help!

Hi, welcome to the forum.

I don't really understand this part of your post, could you explain a little more about your workflow here?

A 'typical' workflow would be:

1. Import to Lightroom, apply metadata as appropriate (keywords, ratings, etc).
2. Develop as appropriate, perhaps using presets.
3. If further work is needed in PS, use the 'Edit In PS' option from within Lightroom. This will launch PS and open the raw file.
4. Process as needed, then do Save in PS and this will save the file either as a PSD or a TIFF (which one depends on the External Editing settings which you can control in the Lightroom Preferences). The PSD/TIFF will then be automatically imported into Lightroom and will be stacked alongside the original RAW.
5. You can continue to pass this PSD/TIFF back and forth between Lightroom and PS if needed.

... but when I go to save the edited pic in RAW, it does not work with LR.
I'd second Jim's request for some more explanation, but, to get the obvious point out of the way first, Lightroom never changes or saves the RAW data (nor for that matter does PS); it simply saves in its catalog the settings that will be used to render the RAW file as a displayable image or in an output file (PSD, JPEG or whatever). This saving happens automatically; the user does not do it explicitly.

You may well find it useful to read through the information in the Starter Kit, which explains Lightroom basics in more detail.
