Lightroom + Leopard, Good!

For any Mac OS X users out there, I bought and installed Leopard today without a hitch, and Lightroom seems to be doing fine. That's on the latest Macbook Pro.

Glad to hear that. Some are reporting Printing Module Problems.

That may be the case. I don't have a printer, so I've never used the print module. Nor have I done the full rundown of functions in LR. I may be a little premature in posting, but initial impressions are good. I have no problems to report.

Well I'm waiting on mine. Maybe later in the week. Doing the New Machine upgrade put in on last Thursday, so may take a short while to arrive.

I plan to install it clean on a second drive before running full blown.

No problems here as well, but I too haven't done any sort of extensive testing as of yet.

So far, I like it. But it hasn't revolutionized the way I use my system. I think the Quickview feature will make the finder more useful; Bootcamp is definitely useful; Time Machine I haven't tried yet, but I think it will be a valuable addition to the OS; Stacks may help to prevent dock clutter; Spaces are nice, but I think they could be made more useful still. Overall, Leopard is awfully pretty.

I like Leopard, but I question whether it's a necessary update at this point.

Okay, finally "finished" mucking about with my system and started playing with Lightroom more. I've found a big problem with Lightroom in Leopard - Flash web galleries don't preview in LR 1.2.

Hi,

I have also a problem with the section Web of lightroom in his version 1.2. (I am on leopard)

I carried out a complete backup of my photographs as well as my catalogues before installing LEO.
I start with a very clean OS and I install lightroom(V1.2)
I put back my file catalogues and my photographs and I launch lightroom.

My problem is that when I wants to export a gallery he says to me that he does not find the original files. (photography)

But if I click on images and that I ask him to display it in the finder, it does not have a problem to find it.
And if I ask him to import the images again he says to me that they are already presente.

Is this a problem compared to Leopard or is it because i did not import the images in lightroom, but i directly replaced my photographs and catalogues in the file of lightroom?

(sorry for my bad english) :)

You may want to try "optimising" the catalog.

Hi,
I already tried to optimize the catalogue, (and few other things) but nothing changes and I have just found another problem, I cannot export images with the modifications of lightroom to improve it under photoshop.

Arffff....now I am really blocked

EDIT:
this is the message that i can see, when i try to export a file to photoshop:

Lightroom could not prepare the file selected in
/Users/TanukiiSama/Pictures/Photos Perso/Macro
Flowers/IMG_5958RECAD.psd for modification. It will not be open.

i just return to my 1'.4.11 last month after i've tried leopard for 2 weeks on my Macbook Pro, because it's sometime close the application while i am using the Digital Photo Professional to process my RAWs and sometime the Finder, the System Preferences is not-responding..... and almost time the System Preferences in not-responding state i have only way to do is long-press the power switch to shut it down.

PS: not found any exceptional case in LR, but the Finder still not-responding in sometime.

No Leopard problems here, with LR. Waiting on other app upgrades and a new SATA drive for my TM. THe one I have and already exchanged once on warranty kills TM, Wont reformat w/o hanging Disk Utility and wouldn't work in the Laptop as a boot drive. Time to move on to a new one.

I installed Leopard, loved it, then ran into problems. I uninstalled it, and missed it. So, I'm back on Leopard and loving it again. Lightroom is working fine now that I'm running 1.3. Oh, and Time Machine is great. I purchased a 75'GB drive just for backups! Backups... mmm... something I never did before!

Well, I have a weird thing going that nobody else seems to be talking about here. Setup is Leopard and LR 1.3 and as a former Aperture user, I have gotten into the habit generally of shutting Time Machine off when I am in Lightroom, but I sometimes forget. So what happens, to the best of my ability to piece it together, is that once a backup runs in TM while LR is running, after that Tm can't find the external hard drive and subsequent backup attempts fail. Once I fix that problem, the next time I fire up LR, it looks to the external drive instead of the MacHD drive and gives me an error message telling me I can't open LR from the external drive (although there is an option to get me back to MacHD). Does this sound familiar to anyone (I hope!)?

Don't worry about shutting off Time Machine - just go into the preferences, and exclude your working LR catalog. Works ok for me. And so that you don't forget to back up LR's catalog, set TM to back up your backup catalogs, and set LR to back up more often.

This is exactly what I have done. Time Machine doesn't backup the current Lightroom catalog, but does backup the catalog backups. Did this for certain Final Cut drives as well, but for those it was due to sheer size and not due to risk of corruption.
