Lightroom Version Number
13.5.1
Operating System
  1. macOS 15 Sequoia
LRc 13.5.1 on Mac OS Sequoia 15.0 running on MacBook pro M3 Max

I posted about this bug in 2016 on the Adobe forum and it seemed okay for a while by running LRc in Full Screen with Menu Bar. However, the bug (at least I think it is one) has returned with a vengeance. It has become more frequent/regular so I was able to video it just now. It was present in LRc 12 and MacOS 14 and followed me despite a clean install when I moved to the MacBook Pro M3 Max.

Basically, LRc is supposed to be on the middle screen (Eizo 27" if matters). However, any time I move the mouse to one of the other screens (Dell on left; built in laptop screen on right) and if the mouse dips down to bring up the dock (without clicking anything), LRc will jump to that screen. It will jump back (almost always) if I then move the mouse back to the center screen and intentially move the mouse to the dock.

However, there are times when LRc won't jump until I have manipulated other apps open on the center screen and/or the left/right screens and then brought the mouse down to bring up the dock.

I hope someone has an answer/fix as this drives me crazy...

Thanks!

What you need to start with is disable the option in MacOS to let screens have their own ‘space’. This will disable the option to have a dock on each screen. You will only have one dock and one menu, on the main screen. It seems Lightroom Classic gets confused when the dock and the main menu can be on any of the screens.

Thank you for the quick reply Johan. While that would work (tried before and again now), I lose the menu at the top of the left/right screens which makes working in apps annoying/difficult and ruins much of the benefit of a 3-screen setup.
No other apps (including Photoshop) 'jump' screens so it seems like an LRc specific 'bug'.
I guess I'm looking for confirmation that I'm not the only one and to see if there is any way to get this fixed. I posted to the Adobe forum but a mod lumped it in with a Sequoia thread there so doubt it will be seen.

That’s your choice. I use three screens as well, and quite frankly I never liked these ‘spaces’, so I disabled it not because Lightroom Classic doesn’t like it, but because I don’t like it.

Your problem might be that you have three screens. Some years ago, I tried running on three screens and had difficulties. I have two monitors now with my Mac Studio and both are set up to show the menu bar at the top.
The larger of my two monitors is selected as the main display. LrC opens on that display and the secondary window opens on the smaller screen.

Your laptop screen is not necessary so you might consider disabling that laptop screen and work with two monitors.

I actually use the laptop screen for iMessage and music

POSSIBLE FIX/Isolation of bug:
I removed the LRc icon from the dock (it was in the middle) and, on relaunching, it showed at the end of the dock. I have used this setup including crossing screens and pulling down to the dock for the past hour without any 'jumps'
I think the bug is specific to when the mouse hovers over the LRc icon in the dock.

More likely this is an Apple bug in Sequoia.

This actually predates Sequoia. I had a version of this bug dating back to 2016 that was temporarily fixed with changing my Full Screen mode in LRc. Not when it became more frequent but definitely before the update to the OS and has persisted through clean installs on a new MacBook Pro.
Now that I moved the icon in the doc to the far left, I have not seen it 'jump' once as the mouse doesn't cross there accidentally as it did before.
