Hi hope someone could help me. I am creating a web site using flash and I would like to incorporate my lightroom gallery into my flash site. Does anyone know how to import my lightroom gallery into Flash CS4. (I am new to flash and somewhat new to lighroom)

Thank you

Unfortunately, integrating an existing Flash gallery into a new .fla (authoring file for Flash) isn't the easiest of tasks. While there are ways to do it, I wouldn't classify it as a beginner activity.

I would, though, recommend a number of options:
1. Export your images as .jpegs and created your own simple gallery inside of the Flash web site you are putting together, avoiding the Lightroom Flash gallery all-together.

2. Simple link from the flash web site to the flash gallery. It wouldn't be as seamless as you might like (it wouldn't appear to be all the same thing as it would load a new, slightly different looking page), but it would get the job done.

3. Include your web site flash file in one part of the .html page and the gallery flash file in another part of the page. If you use colors/layout appropriately, it could look rather good. Unfortunately, though, the stock flash galleries out of Lightroom don't make it the easiest to integrate them into a different web page. Other third party flash galleries, like SlideShowPro do a better job at that. I've done something similar here: http://www.brianreyman.com/portfolio_pages/portfolio_photoGallery.html The gallery (SlideShowPro out of Lightroom) and the menu (custom-built in Flash) are flash and the rest is HTML.

Thank you very much Brian. Now that brings up a flash question, are there templates built into Flash that are similar to the ones in Lightroom or do I have to create them from scrach?

Thanks again,
Jessica

In Flash, no. The Adobe Media Gallery is open source, so you could try modifying that.

But as Brian said, these tasks are not for beginners so don't underestimate the effort in making your own web engine. A better approach might be to buy the SlideShowPro for Flash component and build your own Flash movie around it. Coupled with SlideShowPro Director, you can have a very slick Lightroom > online workflow.

it all depends on the lightroom template you are using but you can just do a gallerycontainer.loadMovie("yourlightroomgallery.swf"); and see what happens. this should simply load in the swf from the flash gallery. I have not looked that much at the built in flash template with LR but i know you can do this with some of the templates i have created as well as some other flash templates.

Joe is definately right - there are ways to load movies into an existing flash movie (they differ between AS2 and AS3 in Flash). Mileage may vary a bit, but it would work.

Again, most of these techniques are intermediate-level Flash stuff.

If you're looking for a template that loads images into a Flash movie, there are a number availbale. When using these, though, you won't have much more customization than what comes out of the box with Lightroom or something like SlideShowPro.

I'd recommend this approach:
1. Export from Lightroom to the web gallery that most closely matches the look of your web site.
2. Link to the gallery from your flash web site. Again, this isn't as seamless as possible, but it'd do the trick.
3. Do additional research on loading flash movies into other flash movies (along the lines of what Joe mentioned - he gave a good starter but you'll need a bit more Flash/Actionscript know-how to take it through to completion). Doing this would allow you to integrate the two together.

If you're interested in discussing it more, feel free to message me through the forum and I'm happy to help.
